The private
sector in the UAE is an exceptional sector. It is represented by the FCCI which
encourages private sector to venture into all activities and functions related
to economic development which is one of the continuous objectives of the country
particularly as related to investments in marketing and industrialization. To
achieve this goal, the FCCI offered its services to support the private sector
through a group of programs that includes research studies, service and guidance
in addition to facilitating the works of firms and companies on all economic,
commercial and industrial activities. In the light of this, the private sector
is considered an important pillar in the process of economic development in the

The Federation of U.A.E Chambers of commerce and industry was
established in compliance with the federal law no. (5) of 1976
ratified by law No. (22) Of 2000 issued by the President His
Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God protect him, as
a major step on the way to have complete federal establishments. The
federation aims at being the comprehensive framework that would
include under its umbrella businessmen through the chambers of
commerce and industry on the basis of one chamber for each emirate
of the union.
Commencement of Actual Activity:
The first Board of Directors for the Federation was formed on 3rd of July 1977 at a meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in Abu Dhabi. The Federation has been performing its Personnel set up. The Board of Directors held seventy five Ordinary Meetings from 3.7. 1977 to 7.3.2006 during which resolutions and directives have been issued in respect of the different events and activities. The Board also held Extraordinary Meetings to discuss matters related to the Federation and its relations with Ministries, Gulf, Arab, and foreign bodies as well and for discussing draft laws, legislation, protocols and economical agreements.
