The UAE lies in the arid tropical zone extending across Asia and
North Africa. Climatic conditions in the area are strongly
influenced by the Indian Ocean, since the country borders both the
Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. This explains why high
temperatures in summer are always accompanied by high humidity along
the coast. There are noticeable variations in climate between the
coastal regions, the deserts of the interior region, and mountainous
areas. High temperature is accompanied by high humidity in the
summer and there is noticeable discrepancy between the coastal areas
and the inner desert regions which is the most dominant feature of
UAE geography. Temperature averages 37.7C in July and humidity goes
up to saturation. The temperature range widens as we go deeper into
the desert. The weather becomes moderate in the mountainous areas.
The UAE, like all other countries on the dry tropical zone, suffers
lack of rain . The amount of rain fluctuates from one year to the
other as well as from one region to the other. It is abundant in the
emirates of Fujiirah and Ras Al Khaiyma due to their geographic
location and their proximity to mountains.
